CAMHS is a vibrant service that tries to understand children in the context of their lives to be able to deliver improved outcomes for you Children and Young People. Our services follow the i-THRIVE model and we conceptualise mental illness as being founded in biosocial vulnerability, adverse life experiences and attachment trauma. Within CORE CAMHS we have a number of pathways and children and young people access assessment and treatment along these pathways.
We are looking for a candidate who has an interest in CAMHS Psychiatry and the post will be suitable for those who have completed FY2+ equivalent level of training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to have full registration on the GMC register and be in good standing with GMC with respect to their practice. Prior specialty experience is desirable and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and ability to provide clinical responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients. This would be as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist. There will also be close working and liaison with associated services includes, CYP Eating Disorders Service, Neurodevelopmental team, Looked After Children (LAC) as well as our Crisis and Inpatient Hubs; and so excellent communication skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be offered support, supervision and mentorship from their medical colleagues and will also be able to access and participate in the Trust's in house Academic Programme which includes live interviews and the journal clubs, EBM, audit, CASP and critical appraisal skills. Although this post is not recognised as a training post, it is aimed at individuals who are seeking to improve their clinical portfolio within Psychiatry that may prepare them to apply for training programmes or gain for a speciality doctor position.
