Non-medical Prescriber (NMP)/Specialist Staff Nurse - Adult ADHD and Asperger's Team (Band 6, 1.0wte)

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Non-medical Prescriber/Specialist Staff Nurse to join its adult neurodevelopmental team. As one of the first community-based services of its kind in the country, the ADHD and Asperger's Team has been offering specialised diagnostic assessments and needs-based interventions for adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Asperger's Syndrome, and Tourette's Syndrome for over 18 years.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team which has a national profile through its innovative work. The post holder will take joint-responsibility for initiating and monitoring medication for the team's ADHD clients under the supervision of a Lead Nurse, and when indicated also for other teams' in the Trust under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist. Additionally, the successful applicant will work autonomously in conducting comprehensive specialist needs assessments of service users' and their families' strengths and needs, analysing data to formulate, implement and evaluate the most appropriate bio-psychosocial intervention programmes. There will also be the opportunity to provide consultancy and training to other services on appropriate management strategies. You will be part of a highly experienced team and we are looking for applicants with good verbal and written communication skills, as well as good organisational skills. Applicants should possess a relevant diploma/degree in Nursing, have at least three years post-qualification experience in a mental health setting, and be registered as a Non-medical Prescriber.

We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
