Neuro Occupational Therapist

Job summary

We are looking for a motivated individual who is committed to working as part of our neuro rehab team providing specialist stroke therapy to optimise quality of life.

We are looking for an experienced B5 or B6 Occupational Therapist with Stroke and/or Neuro experience to join the Stroke team. The role will be based on the stroke unit within Salisbury hospital assessing and managing a varied caseload including a range of neurological conditions within this specialist area.

Professional and specialist supervision is available from senior members of staff, and successful candidates will be working closely with all areas of the MDT.

This is a fixed term contract, ending on 7th September 2026.

Main duties of the job

Band 6: Our ideal candidate as a Band 6, will be confident with appropriate experience, clearly able to demonstrate a desire to actively participate in all aspects of the role. They must be willing and able to lead on various elements of the work in this exciting and demanding acute area of occupational therapy.

Band 5: Our ideal candidate will be confident with appropriate experience, clearly able to demonstrate a desire to actively participate in all aspects of the role and a passion to work within the field of stroke and neurotherapy. The successful candidate must be an effective team player with excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be able to demonstrate clear clinical reasoning and have the ability to explain their decisions and actions in a way that all concerned will be able to understand. They must also be able to demonstrate evidence of recent learning and examples of continued professional and clinical development. Some previous B5 OT experience within the NHS, particularly working with stroke and neurological conditions, would be an advantage but training and support will be provided as needed.
