Job summary
Are you interested in a rewarding new career in pharmacy? The Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) programme allows you to earn whilst training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
Supported by the pharmacy team our PTPTs gain practical experience and develop knowledge, skills and behaviours in dispensary, pharmacy stores and on the hospital wards. This is whilst undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an external education provider. Once completed, PTPTs are eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The post is a 2-year fixed term, full-time contract of 37.5 hours a week with a weekend rota (approximately 1 in 8 weekends) and a bank holiday commitment.
Please note this position is due to start in September 2025. It is hoped that interviews will take place during week commencing the 23rd or 30th June 2025.
Candidates must be eligible to undertake an apprenticeship in the UK to apply for the role.

Candidates must also have FOUR GCSEs grade C/level 4 or above (or equivalent) including English language, maths and a science. All qualifications from GCSEs (or equivalent) and beyond should be stated on the application form and certificates will be requested at interview.

Main duties of the job
Pharmacy experience from any background is desired and encouraged but is not essential.
Candidates will also;

- be hardworking, motivated, and dedicated to achieving the qualification as it requires self-driven learning in your own time and during allocated study time

Permanent employment is not guaranteed at the end of the 2-year fixed term contract but once registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC, you can apply for pharmacy technician roles nationally.
Overseas qualifications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must have obtained a 'Statement of Compatibility' of their overseas qualifications from the UK National Information Centre for the recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skill UK ENIC (formally NARIC) www.enic.org.uk. This will also need to be seen at interview.
