Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Deputy Supply Chain Manager to join the GWH Supply Chain team based in the Great Western Hospital (Swindon).
The role is a full time 37.5 hours / week Mon - Fri 08:00 - 16:00
This is a customer focused role providing a service to maintain a continuous supply of goods to the forefront to deliver patient and clinical care. The role is varied and can be physical in nature due to the activities that will be undertaken such as picking, packing, sorting, and the distribution of goods.
Coordinating the work of a team of staff, ensuring high level of service is delivered.
With the use of leading-edge technology, you will be able to influence how goods are moved, managed, stored, purchased & replenished within your remit.
You will need to be a strong team player and be flexible to work across the Trust as and when needed to support the wider service and your colleagues and stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
As a Deputy Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of supply chain coordinators to ensuring that clinical services within the hospital have a continuous supply of goods in line with the Trust's Inventory Management system. With the use of this leading-edge technology, you will be able to influence how goods are moved, managed, stored, purchased & replenished within your remit.
The role includes investigating discrepancies, problem solving, contacting suppliers, and conveying information to stakeholders in a timely manner. Communicating with Senior staff ensuring task completion by deadlines.
There will be a need to manage daily escalations, monitor adherence to KPIs and SOPs, develop long term continuous improvement plans with the Supply Chain Manager and support their implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a full understanding of best customer service practices and possess the ability to work on their own initiative developing customer relationships and new effective order processes. You will have experience of leading and developing a team, including conducting appraisals and planning resource.
Excellent communications skills are paramount and the ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team. A good standard of general education and numerical competency is a must. High level of computer literacy is essential.
Previous experience within Procurement and the Health sector would be a distinctive advantage.
