Job summary

This is a rare opportunity to work within an outpatient environment at one of the UK's leading NHS laser clinics. We are looking for a NMC registered nurse to join us here at the Salisbury Laser Clinic. The Clinic was the first to deliver laser treatment for Port Wine Stain birthmarks on the NHS in 1982 and has since developed to provide a wide range of skin laser treatments. We are extremely proud of our passionate, professional team who are devoted to delivering the highest level of friendly, safe and patient-centred care.

The individual will be accountable for their own Laser practice including clinical assessment, history taking, using appropriate diagnostics, as well as monitoring treatments. They will provide a well-developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience. They will act as a professional role model for the Laser service and promote excellence in nursing practice and care through use of evidence, supervision, teaching and support from colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to deliver a high quality nursing service, providing specialist care and management to patients and their families. The ability to prioritize your work and be flexible in your approach is essential to this role.

Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided.

Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

The successful applicant will be a registered nurse with an interest in lasers, skin and care excellence and who will be willing to work alongside scientists and clinicians to help deliver our clinical services. Ideally a background in burns & plastic surgery nursing, or skin conditions would be advantageous. Training will be delivered in a number of laser modalities, and we will support you to become a specialist in the field of laser treatments. On completion of our laser expanded practice protocols, and a year of experience, the post holder will gain a Band 6 position supporting our service as a specialist laser nurse.
