In addition to the above skills you will need Grade C GCSE in English and Maths or the equivalent Level 2 in numeracy and literacy. An NVQ 2 in Care is desirable. Previous Radiology Department Assistant or Health Care Support Worker experience is essential for this role.
Specialist Radiology Department Assistants support Radiographers, Sonographers and Radiologists in providing frontline care to patients in a busy Imaging Department 7 days a week. They enable an efficient and caring environment. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate compassion, care, commitment, courage and effective communication and organisational skills. A good understanding of IT is essential.
As a specialist radiology department assistant you will receive additional training to allow you to work in more specialised imaging areas within radiology including nuclear medicine, interventional recovery and DEXA.
Main duties of the job
To carry out DEXA imaging investigations at Salisbury District Hospital in accordance with training, qualifications and departmental policy.
Assist in Nuclear Medicine, Interventional or Fluoroscopy examinations in line with Scope of Practice
Work as daily coordinator within the CT/MRI department
Maintain the highest quality of patient care and imaging.
Supply support for Health care Professionals throughout Radiology.
Supervise a team of band 3 radiology department assistant's.
Take lead on a speciality area within the department and be responsible for the communication of new changes in that area to the wider team.
Support the training and induction of new staff members into the team.
