An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, hardworking and progressive Ultrasound team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. The ultrasound department scans approximately 56,000 patients per year in a variety of clinical settings and comprises of Radiographer, Midwife and Clinical Specialist Sonographers delivering ultrasound services to the people of Wiltshire, West Hampshire and Dorset.
We have already developed sonographer-led services including HyCoSy, Rheumatology, Head & Neck FNA and Breast Interventional Clinics. We have recently purchased a high specification 3D ultrasound for our gynaecology unit and are currently launching this service. We are currently seeking funding for CEUS services.
We are looking for a self-motivated and well organised experienced or newly qualified Sonographer with proven ability to work autonomously. As a competent Sonographer, you will understand the need for a caring and having a compassionate approach along with attention to detail and be committed to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
We are committed to staff education and training, funding staff to complete their MSc in Medical Ultrasound, external and internal training courses and attendance at conferences such as BMUS.
Main duties of the job
The Ultrasound Department is spread across the entire Hospital Site with 5 rooms in Radiology, 3 in Maternity, 2 in Gynaecology, 1 in Rheumatology, the Breast Unit and Fertility Centre with 2 peripheral Maternity sites at Tidworth Medical Centre and Westminster Memorial Hospital in Shaftesbury.
We have a mix of Samsung RS80, RS85, HS40, HS60, HM70 and W10 machines across Radiology and Maternity, Supported by two GE Logiq Es, a GE Voluson E8 and Canon i700 Prism.
We carry out a wide range of ultrasound investigations covering inpatients, outpatients and one-stop clinics in Gynaecology, Breast, Rheumatology and Urology. We also provide ultrasound services to the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre.

The minimum scanning requirements for this role: Obstetric US (All 3 trimesters), Gynaecology and General Abdominal Ultrasound is essential. Small parts, MSK Paediatrics and 3D ultrasound skills are desirable.
The candidate should have a Case Accredited Post-Graduate Diploma / MSc in Medical Ultrasound and have appropriate registration with HCPC or NMC.
The successful candidate will work mainly at the Salisbury District Hospital site, but will also be expected to work at our peripheral obstetric ultrasound clinics.
