Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time motivated Band 5 Registered Nurse to work as part of the Medical / Surgical Outpatient team.

Our Band 5 nurses' coordinate, organise and support our consultant led general and specialised clinical activity in our Main Outpatient Department as well as the Breast Care Unit.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to give high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient's privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is maintained, and at all times, the care given is patient centred.

On appointment, the post holder will also be required to deputies for both the Senior Sister and Sister for the department so sound leadership skills will be required to co-ordinate the department and support junior staff in their absence.

You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

Although the post is advertised for part time hours it is possible that once in post, additional hours may be available.

Main duties of the job

You must also have the ability to be a positive role model to support the team. As a requirement of the post is to supervise junior staff, a NMC mentorship qualification is essential and/or a QCF Assessor award would be advantageous

As the post holder will deputise for the sister in their absence and coordinate the department on a regular basis, good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills as well as customer service abilities, together with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary setting are essential.
