Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Plastic Surgery (F2 level or above desirable).
The post holder will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic Plastic Surgery Department which has expanded significantly over the last decade. The Department provides most areas of Plastic surgery and houses a supra-regional centre for Cleft Lip and Palate services, the supra-regional Burns Unit and the supra-regional Laser service. The catchment population is approximately 3 million covering areas including Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Isle of Wight and some patients in the Channel Islands. Attached to the Department and integral to the service is the Wessex Rehabilitation Centre which undertakes rehabilitation for patients who have experienced hand trauma.
Main duties of the job
In addition to the aforementioned specialist services the Plastic Surgery Unit also undertakes a substantial volume of hand surgery (adult and children), lower limb, perineal, abdominal and breast reconstructive work, micro-vascular surgery and head and neck surgery with close links with Neurosurgical, Cardiothoracic and Gynaecological colleagues within the Southampton Hospitals.
We currently have 15 Consultants and you will work closely with a team of five junior trainees at F2/CT level and seven Specialist Registrars. You will be part of the out-of-hours 1:6 on-call rota for Plastic Surgery and a 1:12 Hospital at Night rota.
