Job summary
It is an exciting time to join the team as a Clinical Fellow in Ophthalmology at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust with many developments afoot. We pride ourselves in being a small, friendly department, with real drive to improve both patient care and the working environment for our staff. This Fixed term 10 PA Clinical Fellow Doctor post is a development to address demands on the service resulting from an increase in workload. We are looking for an enthusiastic junior doctor with the relevant ophthalmic experience of at least 2 years in Ophthalmology and four years post qualification. It would suit someone keen to consolidate core skills in Ophthalmology and we would continue to support doctors who wish to work towards CESR (Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration). The job plan is primarily supporting our acute and high-volume services but could be tailored according to an individual's Personal Development Plan. The job plan can include surgical training/operating and, for the right candidate, will also include the opportunity to regularly attend theatre as well as develop sub-specialty interests. The present Salary scale is £ 40,257 (MC51).
Main duties of the job
As well as providing sub-specialist and general acute clinical care, the successful candidate must be able to perform intra-vitreal injections, be an excellent team player, flexible and committed to the delivery of high-quality patient care. We are a small team, so flexibility and colleague cover are essential. Out of hours work is not currently part of the job. Out of hours cover with ENT can be offered along with appropriate training to interested individuals in some circumstances. We are a forward-thinking, values-based organisation that will support you in your development and help you to achieve your personal career goals. Whatever your professional aspirations, whether you are seeking new challenges, want to work towards entry via ST3, become a specialty doctor or go down the CESR route, we would like to hear from you.
The department actively supports staff training and development, as exampled by our development of our Allied Health Professionals and our Ophthalmic Practitioner team, and development of CESR training, and is committed to ensure a sustainable work life balance exists. We are developing a strong research portfolio supported by our Research Fellow and links with the University Department in Southampton.
