Due to a successful internal promotion an exciting full time opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated and enthusiastic HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team in Laboratory Medicine at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

Applications are invited for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.

As a Band 6 you will already have an IBMS Specialist Diploma in Clinical Biochemistry.

As a Band 5, you will benefit from automatic progression to Band 6 once you have completed the Specialist Portfolio.

The laboratory is well equipped and highly regarded by its users, with a track record of excellent performance. It has just undergone a positive UKAS surveillance visit and is MHRA compliant

Hours of working: 37.5 hrs over 7 days

The laboratory is an IBMS registered training laboratory and candidates with appropriate qualifications can complete the IBMS Registration Portfolio here, allowing subsequent registration with the HCPC.

There is a strong training ethos in the department and as aBiomedical Scientist you will be given the opportunity for CPD.

The department can offer guaranteed progression from Band 5 to Band 6 upon successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma.

In your role you will undertake day to day analysis and validation of results, together with the monitoring of quality indicators. You will participate in out of hours shifts once trained and competent in the relevant areas. TheBiochemistry laboratory has a managed service with Roche and is undergoing implementation of 2x Roche 8000 lines with associated preanalytical modules. The Biochemistry laboratory also has a Specialist Protein Section using Sebia and Binding Sitesystems.

Good communications skills, teamwork and an aptitude for problem solving are essential, as is a flexible attitude to work and willingness to adapt to changes in working practice. The Ideal candidate will be keen to develop their knowledge and skills.
