Job summary
The Emergency Department is looking to appoint substantive consultants to join the existing team. Locum positions will also be considered. These posts are to fill current vacancies and to reach 12 wte. Salisbury is a small DGH and the ED sees 55 000 patients a year with a higher than normal number of trauma patients due to its rural location. The Trust has tertiary referral units for spinal injuries and Burns and Plastics. The department has a 3-bedded Reus, 15 spaces for Majors and a dedicated and recently built Minor Injuries area. Significant work is being undertaken to develop the current delivery of Paediatric EM with the potential for a joint PED/DAU or an expanded new build PED. The hospital covers an area of Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire and within this there is a large military population which brings another aspect of EM. Individual job plans are by discussion but are favourable in terms of DCC:SPA split.
Applicants with sub-specialty interest are encouraged to apply and we are keen to expand our PEM workforce but any sub-specialty interest would be welcomed. Those on the CESR pathway or those looking for an initial locum post or PT post would be welcome to apply. Those with experience of developing an ACP workforce would be highly welcomed.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must be an excellent team player, committed to the delivery of high quality patient care. We are a forward-thinking, values based organisation that will support you in your development and help you to achieve your personal career goals. Whatever your professional aspirations, whether you are seeking a first post after completing training or are an established Consultant seeking new challenges, we would like to hear from you.
The department actively supports staff training and development and is committed to ensure a sustainable work life balance exists. We would welcome applications from those wanting to work flexibly or less than full time.
This is a small, friendly hospital, with real drive to improve both patient care and the working environment for our staff. The ED size allows the chance to practice across the entire scope of EM and people interested would be encouraged to contact and visit the department to see the opportunities available.
We are constantly striving for ways to improve and streamline our emergency and urgent care pathways and individuals would be expected to engage in this development work and bring novel ideas.
Applicants for the post must have their name included on the Specialist Register or be within six months of their CCT date at the time of interview or at an advanced stage of CESR with FRCEM.
