Are you passionate about supporting children's health and wellbeing? We are looking for a dedicated and organised School Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic screening team within Oxford Health's 0-19 Children's Public Health Service.

The role is to provide support to the 0-19 CYP Public Health Service for children, young people, and families, to implement the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme by delivering the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP), Vision screening and supporting Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) in a variety of settings.

Working Twenty hours per week Term Time Only in the South East of Oxfordshire. This would be an ideal role for someone seeking to work part time hours during school term times. We would advise a working schedule of 9.30am to 2.30pm, 4 days per week but are flexible to accommodate a working pattern that would suit both the candidate and the service.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the school screening team, you will help deliver two essential public health programmes to primary school children across Oxfordshire:

  • Vision Screening
  • National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP)

You will work closely with the Screening Lead, Screening Administrator, and Locality Team Leads, contributing to the smooth running of the service and ensuring high standards of care and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out vision and NCMP screening in primary schools, following established protocols.
  • Liaise with schools to schedule screening visits and manage appointment logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage documentation related to screening outcomes.
  • Escalate concerns appropriately and seek support when needed.
  • Support your locality team with wider public health tasks where appropriate.
