The City and North East Oxon Adult Mental Health Team are recruiting for a Support Time and Recovery (STR) Worker to help with adults with mental illness by offering practical support and advice and to improve people's lives across the local community.

The Oxford City and North East Oxon Adult Mental Health Team which serves a multicultural population, including the universities, for adults of working age (18-65) who are experiencing severe and enduring mental illnesses. The team covers the geographical area of the city of Oxford. We work in collaboration with partnership agencies such as Mind, Restore, Elmore and Response. This discipline of care gives an opportunity to visit patients in their own home, in the community or their supported living accommodation.

You will join a dedicated staff group providing assessment and evidence-based interventions to a wide range people in Oxford and the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

As a Support Worker you will be instrumental in our services and deliver recovery focused interventions (emotional and practical support) to service users in their own place of residence under the guidance and support of qualified mental health Clinicians and Team Leaders. You will need to be a dedicated, patient focused and highly motivated individual, who has some experience of mental health and support work, working effectively as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • To provide support and give time to an allocated group of service users in order to promote their recovery and maintain them in a community environment helping them to build their own support network.
  • To provide regular and practical support to service users in developing and managing independence and maintaining dignity and self-respect.
  • To support service users to identify their needs and to assist qualified staff to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans.
  • To work as part of a team under direction of the Deputy Team Manager/Clinical lead which provides mental health services and to focus on the direct needs of service users, working across boundaries of care, organisation and role.
  • To build rapport with service users this will include working with them and developing a workingrelationship.
