Are you a Medicines Management Technician or an experienced Pharmacy Technician looking for a new challenge in a Mental Health medicines management role?
We have a new opportunity to join our Warneford Ketamine Clinic Team asMedicines Management Technician. This is a part-time role (7.5 hours per week) for 6 months initially, with the view to extend subject to outcome and business requirements.
The role involves providing Medicines Management oversight to the Ketamine Clinic to optimise outcomes from medications as part of our Interventional Psychiatry Service. As our lead specialist on the delivery, provision and development of leading-edge medicines management, you'll work across clinical teams, pharmacy support staff, patients and carers, GPs, community pharmacists and practice nurses.
You'll be responsible for tracking and managing the repeat prescribing process for the clinic and ensuring all documentation standards are adhered to. In this multi-disciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to access resources and further develop this new role.

Main duties of the job
- Contact GP's, CPSU and other appropriate 3rd parties, to resolve medication related problems for individual patients.
- Liaise with carers, nursing homes, community pharmacies, GPs as appropriate to ensure a seamless flow of accurate information and to identify patients with concordance problems and outline possible solutions.
- Where appropriate take comprehensive drug histories, medicines reconciliation and complete all documentation as per local and professional standards.
- Provide medication counselling for patients/carers in conjunction with the clinical team, communicating detailed and complex information to patients and carers about drug doses, indications, side effects and efficacy.
- Ensuring those you lead and other relevant staff are appropriately trained to provide patient counselling on medication.
- Support the management of self-medication by community patients as appropriate.
- Assist in the support of patient wellbeing, including phlebotomy, smoking cessation, measuring blood pressure, and weight, and to support the physical health leads in the "My physical health clinics." To ensure robust reporting systems are in place to meet performance indicators for physical health.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of ketamine medicines management within the ketamine clinic for patients initiated and prescribed repeat oral medication. This applies to NHS and private ketamine prescriptions.
