Job summary

Are you interested in School Health Nursing and looking for an opportunity to work with children, young people and their families in School settings and in the community, as part of a new team delivering high quality care, to children and young people aged from 8-19yrs, in line with the Healthy Child Programme?

We have a 37.5 hours, term time only post in the Abingdon Locality where you will be able to develop your skills and knowledge to work alongside experienced practitioners in a variety of settings, including primary and secondary schools and the client's home. The role will include working with school aged children, providing public health related care to support in areas such as safeguarding, emotional health, sexual health and physical health, alongside supporting schools to deliver personal, health and social education, and managing medical conditions in schools.

All levels of experience are welcome in the children and young people service. Whether you are newly qualified or looking for a change in direction.

Main duties of the job

Within the caseload, and as delegated by the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse the post holder will contribute to the safe and effective delivery of the 0-19 service.

You will be based within the locality and will work with the 0-19 teams in that locality and supporting locality wide work where needed for school aged children and young people. The role involves working in partnership with children, young people, families, primary care, schools and statutory and voluntary services and other partner agencies to facilitate health-enhancing activities and improve health outcomes. You will deliver services to children and families within schools and community settings.

The role includes undertaking Healthy Child Programme transitional assessments and planning, delivering and evaluating public health initiatives through school and community-based health promotion activities.

The role will require you to adhere to Safeguarding policies and actively engage under the supervision from a SCPHN in safeguarding processes and meetings.

You will work in partnership with other agencies and develop, participate and maintain interagency networks.
