Amber ward in the Whiteleaf Centre is looking for a Deputy Ward Manager to join their team in Aylesbury. Amber ward is a 20 bedded older-adults ward for those who have enduring mental illnesses, often with co-morbidities.

You can expect to: take part in an everyday leadership role, plan & coordinate the day to ensure safety and to build a team spirit, provide excellent care and governance and you will maintain the standards by supporting and nurturing the team.

From day 1, you will have a structured induction and ongoing support from managers and senior clinicians. And you will have access to best-in-class programmes and pathways to support your career progression.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the provision of 24-hour service with accountable deputy managerial responsibility for the ward. Provide managerial cover in the absence of the ward manager.
  • Support the coordination and management of the clinical team in providing a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for service users.
  • Support the development of an efficient and effective team that delivers on all performance and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the development of acute service provision across the Older Adult Pathway in conjunction with the ward manager, senior clinical lead, and Modern Matron

Management High level experience of team management and performance management skills Experience of developing and leading service development and ability to demonstrate positive outcomes for patients and carers Experience of managing change and communicating the need for this to all staff Within the teams. Practice Educator. Supervision of students Facilitation of student learning Sign off mentor Supervision ability to undertake supervision of registered and non-registered staff. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Desirable

  • Management Training undertaken. Performance management skills. Experience of managing change and communicating the need for this to all staff within the teams Staff appraisal and development work including PDR process Teaching and presenting skills. Coaching or mentoring training.

  • Experience of working at Band 5 in an acute inpatient setting Considerable experience using therapeutic interventions. Risk assessment and management skills.
