Are you an experienced & enthusiastic Older Adult Clinical/Counselling HCPC practitioner Psychologist who enjoys being part of an inpatient team?
Are you passionate about making a real difference to older people with mental health / dementia related difficulties who require the support of our inpatient service?
If so, we would really like to hear from you if you can demonstrate you have the following skills required for this role:
- Experience of leadership and management of clinical staff
- Significant knowledge in the assessment /intervention with older people in the NHS
- Experience of team formulation and neuropsychological assessment for people with dementia
- Experience of complex clinical risk assessment and management
- Experience of safeguarding vulnerable and complex older adult presentations including neurodiversity
This role would offer you the opportunity to work across two co-located inpatient units and lead for psychology. You would utilise clinical skills and influence service delivery and patient care models. Working with the ward manager and leadership team you will ensure that the older people inpatient service achieves its key objectives of delivering caring, safe and excellent care.
The post holder will receive supervision from an Older People Consultant Clinical Psychologist and you would join a small number of older people psychologists working in Oxfordshire who meet regularly for supervision and CPD opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Key duties of this role will be:
To provide psychological assessment and intervention for adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting.
To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by Clinical/ Counselling Psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
To work as part of the inpatient team providing advice and guidance to colleagues as well as to social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local policies and procedures. To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the inpatient wards.
To utilise research skills, as a requirement of the job, for audit, policy and service development and research.
To propose and implement policy changes which may impact on other professionals working in the inpatient service.
To take delegated leadership in specific area of clinical responsibility.
