An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietetic assistant to join the Community Dietetics Team to assist the patient caseload in the community including those that are tube fed. This role will provide both clinical and administrative support to the Community Dietitians.
The Community Dietetic Department, part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, provides a countywide service to patients within Oxfordshire. The role will involve direct patient contact assisting the clinical team in the provision of patient care in nursing homes and patients' own homes.
Whilst no previous nutrition or dietetic training is required for this role, an interest in nutrition and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Comprehensive training will be provided to develop competencies in all aspects of the role.
There is a commitment to personal development and all staff are involved in departmental project work, audit/research and mandatory training. The whole team are actively involved in student training.
Opportunities are available for development opportunities in quality improvement projects, service user experience and co-production.
Main duties of the job
You will assist with the patient caseload in the community including those who are tube fed, conducting review assessments as directed by clinicians. Undertake and oversee the ordering, delivery and payment of nutritional products using the electronic registration system. Monitor and control home enteral feeding related admin.
You will also support dietitians in delivering the dietetic service by undertaking related administration predominantly using IT and the electronic patient record (EMIS). In this varied role you will also assist the Department Lead Administrator /admin team and cover in absence and participate in project work for the benefit of patients and the dietetic department.
This role will require you to travel between rural community bases across the Trusts sites on a daily basis where you will typically attend a number of different patients per day in their home setting. You must therefore be comfortable with driving for work purposes and able to travel freely within the hours of the role. Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required
