Job summary

Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) is a central component of our staff support offer for staff who work in Forensic services. You will be responsible for the promotion of TRiM with staff teams, hold operational responsibility for ensuring that staff who experience incidents at work have a TRiM response in a timely fashion, and also hold some responsibility for reporting on the operations of TRiM to the Service Manager and Clinical lead for TRiM and Trauma-informed care respectively.

Forensic services can be difficult places to work, staff can be exposed to violence, racial abuse, sexual abuse and other untoward stressful events. Supporting to staff to manage these experiences is a vital part of how we mitigate the challenges of forensic services and support staff to maintain their kindness and care for the service-users we work with. TRiM is one component of our approach to Trauma-informed care.

Main duties of the job

You will join an established team of TRiM Practitioners, providing operational, logistical and supervisory support to the TRiM Practitioners across the service. We aim to ensure that whenever there are incidents, the staff who are involved are offered a TRiM conversation within 72 hours of the incident, with further follow-up as required. As a TRiM manager you will be responsible for co-ordinating this approach across our services, alongside our other TRiM Managers. You will be responsible for training new practitioners and providing refreshing training and supervision. You will also have a role in promoting TRiM to staff, and linking into our Trust-wide staff support hub and other TRiM pilots across the Trust. At an operational level you will be expected to provide reports on activity and will have some strategic involvement in the development of the service and Trauma-informed Care more generally.

This is a non-discipline specific role, although it is expected that you will have some form of relevant Professional registration (e.g. NMC, HCPC). Given both its operational needs and strategic role this is a good opportunity for someone looking to develop their leadership skills.

Due to the nature of this job, you will be exposed to the details of potentially traumatic incidents and to the people that experienced them. It is a challenging, but worthwhile role and you will be supported in it by senior colleagues.
