Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Ward Manager position to work as part of an established multi-disciplinary team on an adult mental health inpatient unit in Oxford.
Cotswold House Oxford is a specialist eating disorder service, offering 14 inpatients and 6 day treatment places. Our service provides a stepped model of care, tailored to individual needs. We offer multi-disciplinary pre-admission assessments to collaboratively plan aims and goals of admission.
We are a multidisciplinary team with a dispersed leadership model ensuring that nursing is at the core of patient care. We offer a comprehensive supervision and preceptorship programme for trained nurse. We offer a range of psychological and evidence-based groups and therapy to assist a patient's return to independent living, including work, training or study. You will be able to train in CBT-E Skills and offer basic CBT-E to patients. There are opportunities for further CPD training such as Masters Degree pathway.
Nursing team are encouraged to co-facilitate the groups that they have interest in, such as DBT group or Creative Art, etc. We also encourage staff to contribute to quality improvement projects. These projects are highly recognised by the Trust.
Main duties of the job
We'll need you to have a positive attitude and first-rate skills to work with enduring mentally disordered individuals. Previous knowledge and experience of eating disorders is essential.
As Ward Manager you will need outstanding leadership skills and experience to guide the team working on your shift. Management skills and supervision of junior staff will be key.

In conjunction with the Head of Service, Modern Matron and other clinical leads, the post holder is expected to contribute in the development of the eating disorder pathway.
The ward manager is required to act as the clinical leader, providing role modelling, facilitation and education to the nursing team and to provide full and accountable managerial responsibility for the ward.
The post holder is expected to take the lead in ensuring effective joint working with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure responsive and appropriate service delivery to users and carers.
