Job summary

We are delighted to be able to offer a Trainee Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist post in Oxford Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) based in our Salisbury team in Wiltshire.

Applicants will have completed or be nearing completion of an Association of Child Psychotherapy pre-clinical training and ideally will have been offered a place on an ACP full clinical training to begin in September 2024.

The post is funded by NHS England to begin in September 2024. During the four-year training you will be based in clinic for 4 days per week and you will be funded to attend your training school for 1 day per week. Funding also covers analysis and training costs.

Main duties of the job

The role is to undertake a range of clinical work under supervision whilst undertaking a training at an ACP registered training school. The post holder will be expected to offer advice, consultancy and support to colleagues within the CAMHS team and wider service.

You will be joining a large group of child psychotherapists across Oxford Health who meet regularly for CPD and to discuss our work.

We are part of the Oxford Academic Health Science Centre, working closely with our university colleagues to translate their findings into clinical care as quickly as possible, enabling people using our services to benefit from the latest advances in healthcare.

The funding will cover training fees, salary and a significant contribution towards personal analysis and travel.

Successful applicants will already need to be on an ACP recognised pre-clinical training course or have been accepted for the ACP recognised Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy clinical training.

Applicants, as a minimum, will need to have completed the first year of the pre-clinical training recognised by the Association of Child Psychotherapists. This assumes they will already be working with children and young people in a professional capacity and that they have an interest in and some understanding of psychoanalytical thinking. Those undertaking or having already successfully completed an ACP approved pre-clinical training, will also be eligible to apply and may be able to step on in Year 2 and hence complete the training in 5 years.
