Job summary

We, in Salisbury Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) or Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) as we embark on an exciting project to increase our service provision.

In Getting Help, we are a multidisciplinary team made up of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Psychologists, with 1 current qualified CWP, so there's plenty of opportunity for learning and sharing of expertise.

Our neighbouring teams of Melksham, Marlborough and Bath/North East Somerset CAMHS (BSW) have both trainees and qualified CWPs.The CWPs across the BSW CAMHS service work together for therapeutic groups, supervision, research meetings, and for annual away days. So, despite the geographical distance, we work together as one very supportive team.

In this role, you will complete initial assessments with children and families referred into the service. This includes thorough risk assessments, and safety plans if required. Should you decide that a low-intensity CBT intervention is the best fit for the child and family, you will then offer a high-quality evidence-based intervention over a period of 6 to 8 sessions.

*You must have obtained the relevant CWP qualification to apply*

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will hold a caseload of young people and families and will be responsible for attending relevant meetings, keeping records up-to-date, and sending relevant and timely correspondence, including assessment and discharge letters. Therefore, organisation skills are very important for this role.

We'll need you to supervise, develop, and support graduate and trainee CWPs to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and training where appropriate.

You will also work closely with senior colleagues to screen and triage all referrals. The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the teams and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues.

The Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) CWP team are currently running a Parent-Led Anxiety Group via Teams, and further groups are being developed and set up. Part of your role will be running these groups, so we are particularly interested to hear from those who are enthusiastic about therapeutic groups!
