Job summary

We are recruiting now for Nurse Cadets to join us in September 2024.

As a Nurse Cadet, you will be:

  • Joining the NHS straight after completing your GCSE's...
  • Working as an Apprentice Senior Health Care Support Worker on one of our wards, three days per week
  • Studying one day per week
  • Total hours 30 per week
  • Earning while you learn
  • Supported to progress after the apprenticeship finishes...

Upon successful completion, we help you seek interviews for:

  • Studying a Nursing Degree at Oxford Brookes University
  • A Health Care Assistant job role at Oxford Health

Or

  • A Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship at Oxford Health

Main duties of the job

Nurse Cadets work on our wards caring for patients, at the same time as gaining a Diploma in Health and Social Care, completing their Care Certificate and working towards completing National Apprenticeship Standards by having a dedicated day of study each week. On the ward cadets learn the health care assistant role and will be involved with personal care, for example helping to wash, feed and toilet patients as determined by their need. They will be working alongside the multi disciplinary team, gaining an appreciation of their roles and supporting the collaborative approach to patient care.

A five week induction period commencing in September gives you the chance to get to know the other Cadets, as well as preparing you for life working on the ward. You will also be supported by colleagues on the ward, as well as our Team in Learning and Development at Unipart House.

Ward positions are available at sites across Oxfordshire and we will be trying to locate successful candidates close to home, but travel may be required.

  • Willing and able to work shifts:
    • On weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays

    • Round 1 on the 11th April 2024
    • AND
    • Selection Day on Friday 28th June 2024
