Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in Sapphire ward, which is a 20 bedded adult male acute inpatient mental health ward based at The Whiteleaf Centre, in Aylesbury. There are other wards on the same site including an adult female acute inpatient ward, an adult rehabilitation award and an older adult inpatient ward.
We offer a £15,000 recruitment bonus and a relocation allowance up to £8,000 to eligible successful candidates.
This is a 10 Programmed Activities (7.5DCC+2.5 SPA) Consultant Psychiatrist post covering the county of Buckinghamshire.
The role is full time, but consideration will be given to applicants who express an interest to work part time.

Main duties of the job
With the changing circumstances of modern mental healthcare, the ability to adapt and demonstrate new ways of working is essential. You will have experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry and have great interpersonal skills working with colleagues to work collaboratively with our senior leadership team of acute and urgent care pathway. You will provide leadership and clinical expertise to our highly skilled and committed team on Sapphire ward.

The post holder will provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the Sapphire ward.
They will have the medical responsibility for patients admitted to the ward and be the Responsible Clinician for them. The post holder will have responsibility for those patients seen by himself/herself, together with those patients seen by medical staff directly supervised by the post holder.
The post holder will work alongside the modern matron, ward manager, and rest of the multidisciplinary team and other inpatient, crisis team and community Consultant Psychiatrists to provide high quality care and ensure there is good patient flow through the system. They will work collaboratively with other agencies, in particular liaison with staff from other teams to manage smooth and timely transfer into and outof the unit. The teams most commonly involved with this will be the CRHTT, Community Mental Health Teams, Early Intervention, Opal Ward Rehabilitation Unit and Ashurst Ward Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.
The post holder will provide direct clinical supervision and line management to the trainees and specialty doctors and any senior trainee placed with the team.
This will include 1 hour per week clinical supervision for trainees and a pro rata equivalent level of supervision to specialty doctors.
The post holder will commit to delivering the Trust's clinical governance agenda.
