Job summary

Hello,

I'm Gemma, I'm the Chief Pharmacy Technician and Operational Manager for Oxford health NHS Foundation Trust.

I'm incredibly lucky to be able to lead our hard working, supportive and dedicated Pharmacy Team, in providing a medicines supply and optimisation service to patients within Oxford health NHS Foundation Trust. This is undertaken in the form of Ward Medicines Management visits and the dispensing of Inpatient, out-patient, and discharge medicines.

We are looking to welcome a Pharmacy Technician into our Weston the Green Dispensary Team, which is managed by Katie our Dispensary Manager and Kim our Deputy Manager. The established team is made up of Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Admin.

We feel this role would ideally suit a newly qualified Pharmacy Technician or perhaps a Technician who is currently working in a Community Pharmacy and would like to transition across to gain some hospital experience.

Main duties of the job

Within the role you will have the opportunity to become an Accredited Checking Technician and develop your dispensary and leadership skills.

So, are you looking for an exciting and challenging new role? Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed individual who wants to work in a dynamic and lively department? If so, why not come and join our Pharmacy team at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.

You must be an excellent communicator with outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills. You will need to be forward thinking and enthusiastic, with a commitment to continuing professional and department development.

The department provides Pharmacy services to Mental Health Units, Community Hospitals and other community-based services.

  • To accurately update Patient Medical Records (PMR) and processing of prescriptions.
  • To label/dispense prescriptions for in-patients and outpatients in accordance with local and national policies and any Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in place.
  • To supply Controlled Drugs complying with CD regulations.
  • To participate in Clozapine dispensing and services.
  • To participate in efficient stock control and management systems for the Dispensary.
  • To provide support to Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians while they undertake their learning.
  • Participate in ward stock top-ups when necessary.
