Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic qualified mental health nurse to join our multi-disciplinary forensic inpatient team at Woodlands House in Aylesbury.

You will have a good knowledge base, excellent communication skills and a flexible and positive attitude. You should have a caring, non-judgmental and inclusive approach and be committed to the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

This post attracts a RSU Lead of £1,446 per annum on top of your annual salary.

You will work within a needs-led model of care and will work in co-production with patients.

Main duties of the job

Key Competencies required by the Post Holder

As a member of the nursing team, you are expected to demonstrate attitudinal competences through a professional, approachable, and helpful manner towards clients, their families and carers, visitors, and colleagues throughout the organisation. You are also expected to actively support high standards of care delivery and challenge poor practice should you find it.

Continuous Professional Development

The Trust provides a sound preceptorship programme to support newly qualified nurses to aid their development. As a nurse, you would be encouraged to work alongside the ward management team in facilitating this programme.

Job description

Job responsibilities

We have an excellent relationship with local universities and post-graduate training providers. In addition to this you will have access to both local and trust training to support your continuing professional development.

This post attracts a RSU Lead of £1,446 per annum on top of your annual salary.

It is mandatory for you to complete Management of Violence Aggression Training, Breakaway Training and other training directly related to the job.

You will work a rotating shift pattern Early, Late and Nights to cover our 24 hour 7 day a week service. All candidates must be computer literate.

Please note:

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
  • Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
