Job summary
An exciting full-time consultant post has become available at our Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS) at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospital. The post holder will work alongside an existing part-time consultant psychiatrist and an experience multi-disciplinary team. The post-holder will be accountable for the provision of the psychiatry services for all age group patients with wider needs of the acute hospital.

Main duties of the job
Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS), formally known as Psychiatric in-Reach and Liaison Service (PIRLS) was established in April 2014 with a priority to manage psychiatric emergencies in the Emergency Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH) and to facilitate early discharge from the designated wards in Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe General Hospital (WGH) by assisting with discharge planning. Both Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospital are part of Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust. The main Emergency Department for Mid- and South Buckinghamshire is in Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. There is a MuDAS (Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Service) facility in Wycombe Hospital which is supported by local Community Mental Health Teams.
Consultant responsibility for mental health referrals from Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital of patients over 65 years. Although the appointed consultant is expected to take clinical lead for Older Adult patients, each member of the team is expected to work across specialty boundaries.

Essential
- CCT in General adult or older adult psychiatry in part time or full time role.
- Approved clinician Status and section 12( MHA) Approval are essential. Candidates who are in the process of getting AC approval will be considered . Eligibility for Section 12 (Mental Health Act
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrist's Guidelines)
Desirable
- Relevant higher degree eg MD, MSc, PhD or other clinical qualifications
- Higher degree or equivalent in relevant field of medical, psychological, or other studies or postgraduate teaching qualification
Training

- #Higher specialist training in psychiatry in approved training post for a minimum of three years, equivalent training in another country, or previous consultant experience relevant to this post
