Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mental health pharmacist with a strong background in clinical pharmacy, quality improvement and innovation to develop their career at a senior level by joining our pharmacy team.

With a mix of clinical and operational responsibilities this post is ideal if you want to pursue either a career path towards consultant level practice or towards senior management.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for leading and managing the four specialist clinical pharmacy teams in the mental health directorates, ensuring the delivery of excellent clinical pharmacy practice and the best use of resources. With a strong focus on quality improvement and effective operational management, you will progress the development of leading edge pharmacy services for our patients.

You will also be responsible for working with the directorates to ensure that good medicines management governance systems are in place, and that medicines processes are patient-centred, enable effective and responsive care, and meet the operational needs of services.

As a member of the senior pharmacy leadership team, you will actively contribute to and shape the strategic planning of the service, including innovative pharmacy and medicines systems that help achieve the trust's aspirations.

The department provides services to our mental health in-patient and outpatient teams, including forensic services, learning disability services as well as community hospitals. Our pharmacy service is highly respected, and our staff are considered integrated members of the patient-focused multi-disciplinary teams in this Trust.

About us

The Oxford Health Pharmacy & Medicines Management service employs approximately 80 staff, predominantly clinical pharmacists, and technicians, supported by dispensary and administrative staff. Clinical pharmacists and medicines management technicians are based on clinical sites, with supply and support functions at hubs in Oxfordshire.

We have an ambitious digital medicines plan and are currently implementing ePMA across mental health inpatient services. We are a research-active department with many opportunities for academic research, practice research and quality improvement projects.
