Job summary
Are you a forward thinking Occupational Therapist, looking to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people?
We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to shape the Occupational Therapy service and support the leadership of the Highfield Unit.
The Highfield Unit Oxford is a state-of-the-art NHS facility providing specialist inpatient services for young people aged 11 to 18 with acute mental health needs and our team offers a safe and supportive environment while young people are in the most vulnerable stage of their illness, ensuring individualised care for each young person is provided. The Unit has fantastic facilities for staff to undertake individual and group work. Facilities include a gym, practice kitchen, art/pottery facilities and a state of the art music room.
As a member of the team you would be supported to work collaboratively with young people and their families in order to build therapeutic relationships along with other professionals involved in their care.
Ideally you will have experience of working with children and understand the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and sensory experiences on individual functioning. Training on PBS will be provided for all staff.
There will be an expectation for this role to be part of the senior leadership support which will mean some flexible working out of core hours (including some evening/weekend work).

The team offers a comprehensive induction package and training programme for all new staff including a bespoke week of adolescent mental health teaching PBS training and a 3 day DBT skills based training.
