Main duties of the job
On a typical day, you will have contact with a variety of teams about cases - both ongoing cases and new enquiries. Teams from NHS and social care, and schools and police all use the service to get advice or make referrals. As a lead for the service, you will co-ordinate the referrals and allocation of cases, supervise the staff and also undertake direct and indirect clinical work yourself. There is liaison around referrals in order to ensure multiagency responses and linking with safeguarding (within Trust) and the local MASH with social care.
Using your knowledge of clinical issues and models, you will ensure that colleagues are well trained and supervised in their clinical activity and be a resource for other agencies through consultation. The service is based upon a consultation model, with assessment and intervention as required, and you will be able to support these stages.
Some of the role will be ensuring that the team has sufficient resources to use/share, providing training to professionals, which include social workers, CAMHS clinicians, police and education. There are regular liaison/supervision with the Youth Justice Service (YOS).
On team meeting days you will chair/delegate the meeting and work with dedicated administration to make decisions on referrals/clinical input needed, ensure metrics are collated to measure service outcomes/performance. You will attend meetings with other services and teams, such as Child in Need and Child Protection meetings.
