Job summary

Are you a Mental Health Nurse, looking for a one-off opportunity to lead a brand new team, in a state-of-the-art facility?

Are you dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people, experiencing mental health difficulties?

The Meadow Unit, based at the Warneford, is brand new for 2023. We're an 8 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for young people aged 11 - 18, with exceptional amenities.

Compassionate, caring and kind, our team prioritises offering a safe and supportive environment while young people are in the most vulnerable stage of their illness; we do this by working collaboratively with the young person and their family. What we do makes a real difference.

Main duties of the job

We're passionate about the holistic and person centred approach: our patients not only have access to 24 hour specialist mental health support, but also important recreational activities such as the gym, garden, sensory room, multiple lounges, as well as more informal classrooms where they can explore activities such as art.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A degree in Mental Health nursing
  • RMN registered
  • Relevant clinical training qualification e.g. CBT, DBT, PBS

Desirable

  • Master's degree or equivalent in related studies
  • Coaching experience and/or training
  • Leadership training

Experience

  • Nursing experience in an acute setting.
  • Experience as a clinical supervisor
  • Competent in clinical risk assessment and management
  • Demonstrates background of leading audit and developing nursing care in response to findings

Desirable

  • Experience in acute adolescent care in an inpatient unit (CAMHS).
