Job summary

This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and innovative CAMHS workforce in Wiltshire.

Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) have been set up in response to the Government's Green Paper in 2017. They aim to increase access to mental health support by delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people (CYP), in both Educational and Health settings. As such, Wiltshire MHST works with CYP presenting with mild-moderate low mood or anxiety. As of January 2023, Wiltshire MHST work with over 30% of schools in Wiltshire.

The Wiltshire MHST currently consists of Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) delivering 1:1 and group interventions. EMHPs work closely with local schools to support them in adopting a 'whole school approach' to mental health and wellbeing, to improve outcomes for CYP, parents/carers and staff.

Working within Wiltshire MHST, your role will be to supervise 4-6 EMHPs and help them to develop their role. Supervision with the MHST consists of both Case Management Supervision and Clinical Skills Supervision, following a low intensity model. This may include trainee EMHPs (Band 4) and/or qualified EMHPs / CWPs (Band 5). Line management supervision is provided separately.

You will also hold a small caseload and will develop good working relationships with schools.

o Triaging and allocating referrals via agreed protocols within the service, with support from the Senior Management Team.

o Providing signposting and self-help advice, or refer onto other services, where referrals are not appropriate for MHST

o Supporting EMHP trainees using role modelling to assess and support children and young people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.

o Supporting EMHPs in delivering Whole School Approach work (audits of Whole School Approach, delivery of assemblies, work to promote positive mental wellbeing in the educational setting, groups etc.)
