Clinical Nurse Specialist - B7 CAMHS Community Eating Disorders, Oxfordshire

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced mental health nurse to take a senior role within the CAMHS Community Eating Disorder (CAED) team in Oxford.

Our well-established service aims to deliver high standards of care to young people and their families, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and participation.

The post holder will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills. Experience of working within the field of eating disorders would be extremely advantageous, however the service will consider applicants with a genuine interest in the client group and those who are willing to undertake a comprehensive induction and training and show a commitment to the development of the service.

Main duties of the job

The main component of the role will be in providing high quality specialist nursing care to patients who are referred to the eating disorder service as well as taking a leadership role within the multi-disciplinary team. There will be opportunities to develop skills by working with other colleagues as appropriate. The post holder will be required to offer supervision to other team members and act as Practice Assessor / Supervisor to nursing students and trainees. Support to develop these skills will be offered and the local training course offers support to supervisors through a programme of CPD. Specific support and supervision is provided by other team members including family therapy, psychology and medical colleagues.

This is an exciting time to join our team. We have recently launched a new Enhanced Care Pathway to include intensive community treatment for eating disorders and PEACE pathway to better support children and young people with autism and eating disorders.

We offer family-based and individual interventions including treatment for co-morbid mental health difficulties, allowing team members to develop and maintain a broad set of clinical skills alongside specialist interests.

The post is based at Raglan House, Cowley. Our service provides assessment and treatment interventions tailored to the needs of Children and Adolescents with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community. There are opportunities for further training in the evidence based treatments, including regular FBT supervision.

The community team is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including: Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nursing staff, Social Worker, Family therapist, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and team Administrators.

The service operates 5 days per week Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
