Job summary

Are you looking for your next opportunity to demonstrate your clinical leadership skills?

We have a great opportunity for a lead Clinical Psychologist to work across the Wiltshire and BANES MHSTs (Mental Health Support Teams), alongside the two clinical Team Managers to further develop our MHSTs. MHSTs provide low intensity evidence-based psychological interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate difficulties in and around their educational setting

Consistent with a prevention and early intervention agenda, the MHSTs have a dual role; they provide targeted input for children and young people who are already struggling with emotional wellbeing, and they also have a remit to support whole school approaches to enhance the school's overall emotional wellbeing. This work aligns with the government green paper and NHSE long term plan.

You will receive regular line management and clinical supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist, as well as peer supervision with multi-agency colleagues. Support is available to obtain and maintain professional accreditations, such as BABCP accreditation. There will also be opportunities to undertake training in low intensity supervision at either the University of Exeter or Reading.

Main duties of the job

As the psychology lead, you will work closely with the MHST team managers. As well as maintaining a caseload yourself, your role will include providing consultation, training, and reflective practice to school staff, MHST staff, and low intensity practitioner (Education Mental Health Practitioner, Child Wellbeing Practitioner) case management supervision.

You will also likely be asked to supervise more junior qualified psychologists, trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. As MHSTs are a new initiative, there are many opportunities for evaluating practice, and support for conducting research within this setting is available via our close collaboration with the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath.

About us

You will join a thriving and supportive Clinical Psychology structure within the wider CAMHS service in BSW, with psychologists based in all 5 core CAMHS teams and also within several specialist teams (for example, In-reach, Crisis and Home Treatment, Harmful Sexual Behaviour and FCAMHS). We meet regularly, promoting professional development and providing opportunity for specialist supervision and shared learning. There are plenty of opportunities for CPD and we link with colleagues across the wider Oxford Health Trust.

You will be joining an enthusiastic team who are keen to shape the future of MHST's by ensuring that evidence based interventions are delivered to the young people in B&NES and Wiltshire making a significant difference to their lives.
