If yes, we may have just the role you're looking for! We're looking to recruit a Consultant Mental Health Practitioner to make a real different in child and adolescent mental health in Oxfordshire.

Main duties of the job

  • Direct clinical work, including assessment and intervention
  • Multiagency liaison and networking
  • Facilitating access to wider CAMHS services
  • Establishing positive working relationships with wider agencies such as social care, education
  • Working in a consultative approach with all agencies
  • Developing training packages based on needs for within your service and outside
  • To contribute to service development and regularly appraise and review service delivery on a local and national level; working closely with NHS England.

About us

Within this role, you will be part of a small multiagency team, working closely with all other mental health teams within CAMHS. Also other sectors, including schools, GP's, social care, and third sector voluntary organisations such as youth workers.

As a consultant mental health practitioner working in the Oxfordshire Link team, you are a senior clinician. There will be opportunity to challenge and influence the CAMHS culture to work in a flexible and person centred way.

You will have autonomy and independence around organising and managing your own caseload and priorities.

You will have regular peer support both formal and informal through team meetings, 1-1 supervision (managerial and clinical), and case discussions. The culture within our team is an open and curious one. We work closely together to ensure the care our young people receive is of the highest quality and evidence based.

The service is delivered within core working hours, Mon-Fri, 9-5. There is no weekend or on call responsibilities. There is opportunity to develop supervision skills, in a clinical capacity. You will not have formal direct line management responsibilities.

Please note:

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.

Essential

  • Registered RMN, OT, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist
  • Continuing registration with body overseeing practice of core mental health profession, e.g. NMC, HCPC, etc

Desirable

  • Masters degree directly related to specialism

Knowledge

  • Experience/skills of working with young people in mental health settings
  • Experience of working with the Mental Health Act and robust knowledge of the Children Act
