We are looking for compassionate practitioners who are skilled at coordinating and prioritising in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to work as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner for Single Point of Access (SPA) & Education In-Reach.

You will provide access, support, assessment and treatment options for young people accessing the service in education settings or via SPA, and in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, in order to enable continuity of care, where young people need to access longer term support within community CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will support the development of and provide a quality needs led service as part of the multi-disciplinary team for CAMHS within the Single Point of Access (SPA) and the Education In Reach Programme.

Additionally, you will support the development of evidence-based services and specialist programmes for the care group, specifically in relation to delivering the in reach programme in education settings which they will have a key responsibility for.

Other key duties include:

  • To be the main point of contact within SPA.
  • To act as a contact point for referrers and families.
  • To liaise with young people and families waiting to establish the current presentation and give advice whilst waiting for assessment/intervention.
  • To support the delivery of a high-quality link worker provision into secondary and college setting . This will include providing consultation and training to staff in a range of agencies in relation to the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people.

Job responsibilities

The job may progress to join the on-call rota (which covers 7 days/night a week), approximately this can be seven days every eighteen weeks; with a buddy system in place to provide support and sharing of the rota. This also includes on-call managerial supervision and ad-hoc supervision support.

Please note:

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
