Job summary

Designated Matron within the family health directorate who will have responsibility for one of the acute ward areas along with the nursing in children's outpatients, children's specialist nursing, community nursing teams, the children's play team and the child development centre.

Have a visible and accessible presence in clinical and non-clinical areas, to help, advice and support for the public and staff, ensuring high quality care for our patients.

Be responsible for providing specialist education and training to a range of professionals/multi disciplines.

Provide nursing knowledge and skills to undertake the operational management and strategic development of the service and maintain compliance with metrics.

Develop policies, procedures and guidelines.

Ensure that the service specifications for the specialist areas are delivered to a high standard ensuring measurable outcomes are benchmarked against National standards.

Responsible for providing high quality care for patients within the Directorate ensuring patient/client /care involvement in the development of services.

Main duties of the job

Leadership and Professional Standards

To act as an expert providing leadership and advice across the Paediatric teams and wider trust.

To be visible and accessible to staff, patients and relatives.

To ensure the environment and processes are responsive to the needs of patients and their carers ensuring compassionate care which recognises privacy, dignity and diversity.
