Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for one Consultant Obstetricians to join the existing team of 11 Obstetricians.
It is essential that the post-holder should hold the MRCOG (UK) or an equivalent qualification and be on the GMC specialist register or will obtain a relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview.
Main duties of the job
The department is looking for a dynamic and energetic Obstetrician with a passion for Medical Education and interested in the RCOG College Tutor Role to oversee the provision of Post Graduate Training according to RCOG Training Curriculum. The department currently has a College Tutor in post. This role is an expansion to the current team and will require working closely with the existing College Tutor. The successful candidate will work clinically as a full time Obstetrician and will be the link person between both Obstetrics and Gynaecology services to foster a positive educational environment for learning.

NGH has an excellent social centre with a large library, gym with swimming pool and the Cripps Education Centre where lunch and snacks are available in one of our restaurants. Frequent educational sessions run in the Centre for all staff and it serves as an oasis from clinical areas.

Job plans will be developed in conjunction with the successful candidates to include regular daytime labour ward sessions, regular elective caesarean section lists and a regular Antenatal clinic. Out of hours work will include a weekday night on call which will not be more frequent than 1 in 8 and weekend work separated into daytime consultant presence or night on call work which will not be more frequent than 1 in 10. On call work is Band A. The department develops job plans that follow RCOG recommendations and local job plan policy with respect to SPA allocation, admin work etc.
