Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macmillan Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care team at Northampton General Hospital as a Practice Educator. As an integral part of a dedicated and innovative team, the post holder will lead on and deliver quality palliative and end of life care education across the trust.

Main duties of the job

This role includes clinical working within the specialist palliative care team as part of seven day service provision. Significant palliative care knowledge and skills will be required alongside extensive teaching and education experience. The post holder will demonstrate a broad range of effective communication skills and have a clear passion for supporting learners and consequently enhancing delivery of quality palliative and end of life care.

  • Substantial post registration experience in healthcare in a professional post with specialist palliative care experience
  • Evidence of both relevant and recent continuous professional development
  • Relevant teaching and assessing qualification, alongside significant teaching experience
  • Post registration course in palliative care or relevant field
  • Advanced communication skills training
  • First Level NMC registration

Desirable

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
  • Independent prescribing qualification
