HR Advisor [Maternity Cover] - Band 5

Do you want to make a real difference? If so, this could be the opportunity for you. We have an exciting opportunity in our People Partnering Team for a Band 5 HR Advisor for a fixed period of 12 months, 18.45 hrs per week with options for occasional home working.

This professional role will provide generalist employee relations expertise to our managers and staff using a partnership approach, advising and coaching managers to deliver their objectives through the performance of their people.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced employee relations advisor who has a passion for providing the best advice and support for our people whilst being part of the wider ER team working alongside the HR People Partner. The successful candidate will be a team player, be self-disciplined and motivated to deliver key objectives and confident in their ability as a HR professional.

Job responsibilities

Generalist HR Advice

  • Under the guidance of the HR Business Partner, provide professional HR advice to managers across the full range of employee relations issues including grievance, discipline, capability, sickness absence, performance management, redeployment, in line with best practice, Trust policy and employment legislation
  • Under the guidance of the HR Business Partner, manage caseload of employee relations issues and advise managers on HR issues in particular on sickness absence cases
  • Advise on employment legislation and terms and conditions of employment under the direction of the HR Business Partners
  • Advise on pay and grading issues
  • Develop constructive relationships and partnership working with trade union and professional representatives
  • Provide support to the Trusts Equality and Human Rights agenda and advise on employment related issues relating to equality and diversity
  • Deliver HR related workshops to build the capability of line managers
  • Carry out maternity workshops and support the Corporate HR Officer to ensure all pregnant workers documentation is actioned
  • Manage and maintain the HR Case Database
  • Provide HR support to investigating officers such as taking notes
  • Assist managers with formal flexible working meetings
  • Deputise for the HR Business Partners at Directorate meetings and provide assistance at mangers away days

Workforce Information

  • Assist the HR Business Partners to develop workforce plans for nominated areas
  • Collate and produce monthly workforce data for HR Business Partners such as return to work data, sickness absence information including trigger reports
  • Collate appraisal data and monitor through spot checks by directorates

  • Partake in all specialist workshops offered internally
