Have you had a break from your profession for longer than 2 years? If yes, this is a fantastic opportunity to start your AHP Return to Practice journey at the Northampton General Hospital.
PLEASE NOTE: Those who are registered with the HCPC or studied internationally may not be suitable for the programme.
Return to practice applications are welcomed from the following professions:
- Physiotherapy,
- Occupational Therapy,
- Therapeutic Radiography,
- Diagnostic Radiotherapy
- Operating Department Practitioner.
Return to practice applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis considering, your availability, experience, and time away from practice as well as the capacity of the appropriate department.

For applicants with greater learning needs and/or more time away from clinical practice, we will provide time to re-acclimates and further educate for the NHS of today.
you will be employed on an honorary contract for a time period from 1 - 6 months, depending on requirements, to allow you to update your skills and knowledge to enable HCPC registration.

HCPC states the following requirements for clinicians returning to practice:
if you are returning to practice, we need you to update your knowledge and skills as follows.
0 to 2 years out of practice - no requirements please apply directly for above positions
2 to 5 years out of practice - 30 days of updating (210 hours)
5 or more years out of practice - 60 days of updating (420 hours)
In the 'days' requirements above, we consider 1 day to be equivalent to 7.5 hours.
Essential criteria are as follows:
- No HCPC sanctions
