Job summary

Children's Nurse Band 5 RSCN/RN Dip ChildRN Adult with Paediatric Experience Experience in Oncology, Surgery and PAU desirable

An exciting opportunity to join our committed and forward thinking team . If you are enthusiastic, motivated, willing to learn new skills and extend your practice as opportunities arise, in caring for children requiring surgery across several specialities, elective and emergency and also children who who have haematological and oncological conditions we would like to hear from you. We are a POSCU L3 centre administering chemotherapy so experience or a desire to develop skills in this area will be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families.

In particular take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.

They will participate in the management of the ward when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Ward Manager or Senior Staff Nurse.

They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice.

To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.

Patient/client care Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of qualitynursing care. Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supportingstudents and learners on placement within the clinical area. Contribute to the education and training of others, gaining an understanding of clinical supervision. Actively promote evidence-based practice within the clinical area andcontribute to audit initiatives. Adhere to all Trust Policies and Health & Safety, as applicable.Financial & physical resources To develop and maintain an awareness of budgeting, exercising care andeconomy in the ordering and use of equipment, supported by writtendocumentation where applicable. Responsible for the effective and efficient use of Clinical, physical andfinancial resources.

Human resources To attend Trust/local orientation programmes and mandatory trainingsessions.
