Job summary
The postholder will be a Registered General Nurse and will practise under midwifery supervision to attend women during the postnatal period on the postnatal ward.
The postholder will be a prime care provider requiring supervision and will work as a member of a team providing postnatal care within the hospital, focusing on the nursing requirements of women.
The postholder will work within the framework of the NMC Code of Conduct (2015) and Northampton General Hospital maternity guidelines.

Main duties of the job
Thepost holder willprovide a high standard of nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of patient care. They will work closely with the midwives, the postnatal ward manager, and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies and standards of nursing care.
The postholder will carry out all relevant forms of care under supervision and when proficient demonstrate procedures of care; supervise junior qualified and / or unqualified staff including student midwives whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
