team leader decontamination technician

endoscopy unit

To ensure that the day-to-day management running of the decontamination room is, carried out effectively and efficiently in order to ensure equipment is cleaned to high standard. Work with a team and mange to provide care for patients in conjunction with trained qualified nurses and healthcare assistants. Maintain a safe working environment and responsible for the ongoing of the maintenance of equipment, testing of new equipment and ensuring all equipment serviced to high standard.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that all procedures are followed.

To ensure all equipment is kept to high standard and endoscopes are process and endoscopic equipment in line with British Society of Gastroenterology, medical Devices agency, CFPP01-01 guidelines and trust policies and manufacture guidelines.

To liaise and communicate with Endoscopy Sister on a daily basis on any problems with decontamination equipment/process that may affect the smooth running of the Endoscopy list,

To liaise with Infection Control Department and Decontamination Lead as required.

To check all manufacturer's instructions before new items are taken into the systemContinually keep and maintain accurate records of all equipment testing in accordance with CFPP-01-01.Organise staff rotas monthly, return to works and manage annual leave and escalate to the Endoscopy Sister.Work with endoscopy sister for recruitment and retention.

Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to at all time.

Monitor new staff training programme and ensure this is completed by new staff members.

Brief staff of any changes or issues at the huddle daily and unit meetings.

Assist with Health & Safety audits and COSSH assessments on a quarterly basis.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Ensure all service and validation of the AER are completed in a timely manner and service report available and signed off.

Maintain orderly filing systems for maintenance checks, service contracts, weekly testing results, individual endoscopes service and repair information.

Organise staff rotas monthly, return to works and manage annual leave and escalate to the Endoscopy Sister.

Work with endoscopy sister for recruitment and retention.

Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to at all time.

Deliver training for all staff as appropriate.Monitor new staff training programme and ensure this is completed by new staff members.

Continually monitor standards within the endoscopy decontamination area to ensure joint Advisory standards are met

Identify risk areas and report to Endoscopy Sister.
