Job summary

To provide technical and practical support for the development and delivery of technology enhanced learning within the Cripps Postgraduate Medical Centre. Ensure our Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Audio Visual (AV) equipment is maintained and identify new equipment for potential purchase. To liaise with a range of internal and external educators, ensuring effective use of the equipment, provide training to a variety of internal educators and facilitate educational delivery. Work effectively with internal stakeholders such as the trusts Digital Content Creator, the resuscitation and simulation team, and the Associate Director of Medical Education for technology enhanced learning.

Main duties of the job

Virtual learning environment

The post holder will work under the supervision of the Associate Directors of Medical Education (ADMEs) in the development of Medical Education e-learning courses delivered via our Virtual Learning Environment.

Take responsibility for the administration (including adding and removing users) and upkeep of Medical Education e-learning courses to support education delivery in the trust.

Work in partnership with the ADMEs for TEL and support the delivery of education trust wide with all consultant educators.

Develop a robust education process for all students and doctors to access the TEL lounge equipment.

To manage access rights to the VLEs for all users to ensure a high-quality experience, and effective reporting in relation to assessment and tracking.

Advertise to all students and doctors education TEL events trust wide

Collate feedback for all TEL activities and produce monthly reports to the ADMEs.

Work in partnership with HEE TEL colleagues on future developments of medical education.

Centre Equipment management

Ensure all equipment within the centre is maintained to ensure effective functioning with minimum down time. This includes repair and cleaning of VR/AR simulators, AV equipment etc

Provide first line support for existing AV equipment in each classroom and large hall within the centre and identifying new AV equipment for potential purchase

Support the development of the webpage and eLearning Moodle platforms

Set up of Virtual/Augmented Reality simulation teaching

Ensure all governance processes are followed by all teams using live links to real patient procedures and surgery.

Set up and maintains the equipment for training sessions as required by internal faculty for all clinical education; laptops and/or audio-visual apparatus, AR/VR simulators. Ensuring the equipment is functional, clean and stored appropriately. Ensure any faulty equipment is sent for repair and the Medical Education Manager/Head of Academic Programmes is informed. Become an expert user of the AR/VR software and support teaching activities as required. Support the medical education team in the development of the trust wide usage of AR and VR equipment.

Supporting Patient Excellence

To maintain healthy working relationships with the medical education team, external faculty, internal and external users of the service and wider education teams. Understand and work under the governance processes around the use of equipment in clinical areas.

Training and Workshop participation

Achieve competency and provide appropriate training on VR/AR and AV equipment, as required to internal and external faculty for clinical education, in line with university curricula and patients safety initiatives.

Support the Simulation and Resuscitation team with simulation activity and/or clinical skills as required, following completion of appropriate training in AR/VR.

Quality Assurance and Monitoring

To take responsibility for maintaining own and others Health, and Safety and security.

To ensure own actions assist with maintaining best practice, standards and quality.

To complete monthly reports on feedback from users and how this has enhanced there practice.

Work in partnership with senior leaders in clinical education on research and innovation projects.
