Job summary

Medical Secretary - General Medicine

We are looking for dynamic Band 4 Medical Secretary to work within the Gastroenterology Department. This is a full time position 37.5 hours, covering the core hours of 08.00 to 16.00 Monday to Friday. The department is happy to consider a Job Share for these hours.

You will need exceptional typing skills and be able to work to deadlines. Organisational skills are essential as well as being able to manage a fast paced office with two consultants, one of whom being the clinical lead.

You would also need excellent communication skills as well as being able to work on your own initiative and motivation to deliver a first class service.

You will also need to have extensive knowledge of the Trust RTT targets and deadlines to include the validation of patient pathways and booking follow up appointments

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a clerical team to support a defined team of Clinicians

Provide a comprehensive, confidential secretarial and administration support service to the Consultants, medical staff, clinical teams and department on a day to day basis. This should normally be provided during the core hours 08.00and 17.00.

However, to ensure alignment with the Direct Clinical Care time of the Clinical Teams for whom they support flexibility from the core hours may be required and will be determined locally depending on the needs of the service.
