Job summary
We have a new and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the medical education team in our busy and well-established medical education, simulation and resuscitation post graduate center as the Medical Education Manager. We recently became University Hospital of Northamptonshire NHS Group.
The post holder will be the lead the medical education team on the delivery of medical education for undergraduate medial students, doctors in training, clinical fellows, locally employed doctors and physician associates, working in partnership with the Director of Medical Education (DME), Deputy Director of Medical Education (DDME), Medical Director and Head of Medical Education (HME). The post holder will work in line with Health Education England (HEE), General Medical Council (GMC), requirements to support all junior doctors.
The post holder will support the assistant to DME and DME in strategically leading with all partners in education across the healthcare, ensuring work we do is internally aligned to the future state of the NHS and wider healthcare systems.

The post holder will be an experienced healthcare professional with a history of medical education.
Main duties of the job
- Accountable to the Director of Medical Education and through them to the Head of Medical Education for all operational issues.
- To be professionally responsible to the Director of Medical Education for the provision of Postgraduate Medical Education for approximately 200 junior medical staff, 60 undergraduate medical students, physician associate students, international medical graduates and locally employed doctors. They must ensure that a full range of guidance, support and information is provided for the planning, organisation and delivery of medical education.
- To provide line management and leadership to the Medical Education administrative team. Be responsible for undertaking regular appraisals of the PGMC staff, managing sickness absence and for recruiting appropriately to the team and allocating leave.
- To work co-operatively with all stakeholders, to develop the medical workforce with the skills, knowledge, competence, and the capacity for flexibility and change necessary to deliver safe, effective patient care and to enhance the quality of service delivery. This includes working in partnership with multi-professional colleagues to promote collaborative learning wherever possible.
