Job summary
The post holder is identified as an experienced A&E autonomous practitioner with a special interest and advanced skills in the management of patients presenting with a minor injury. The nurse practitioner will use their specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare to a select group of patients with minor injury. This nurse practitioner is accountable for the total episode of care of the patient including assessment diagnosis, treatment and/or referral and discharge.
The nurse practitioner will undertake the role in accordance with the Trust guidelines for practice and is supported by others of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will work collaboratively with A&E clinicians. The nurse practitioner will work with the rest of the team to assist with the developments and innovations in improving the quality of care for all patients across the whole emergency service.
The post holder carries responsibility for continuing professional development and the on-going audit and development of the role in relation to the needs of the service.
